March for Babies

Hello again. I wanted to post that Mike and I are doing a walk on May 17th for the March of Dimes, now called March for Babies. I am gathering a team here in OKC and hopefully will reach our goal, which is set right now at $1,000. I will raise the goal once I get more team members. I have always wanted to do this, and now I have the chance. I am very excited.

As many of you know my sister Eryn was born with a hole in her heart and thankfully has been fully recovered since her surgery from when she was a toddler. My brother Jon was born prematurely, and now I have met many more people here in OKC who have had children born prematurely or have had children born with defects, even some losing children because of those defects.

Mike recently showed me a sad yet powerful video he found on the web. If you need a good cry or just want to see just one of the things that has inspired us to walk, along with all the other said reasons above; google 99 Balloons and click on the first web page marked 99 Balloons::Igniter Media Group. I warn you, it will break your heart all the while thanking God for His never ending love and grace.

The money we raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start. If you would like to donate money, you can do it online at www.marchforbabies.org/tumerloo. Mike will set his account up in the next few days. This address is for my donations. If you can't donate money, that is ok, we all know what it is like to be strapped for money. Instead, please let me know you are keeping us in your prayers. That would mean a lot.

Thanks, and sorry for being so serious. I am sooo excited to be doing this walk.

Elana (& Mike)
and yes, William will be strolling along with us :)

  1. how wonderful! i wish i could be there and walk with you. it is awesome that you are doing this. unfortunately i dont think our parents recieved any money to help with our hospital bills. i dont know if the organization was around then. but the fact that it is helping people now is really encouraging.

  2. That video made me so thankful for my healthy baby girl. Well, she's not much of a baby anymore! It even brought tears to Ryan's eyes, he never cries. But, I would love the opportunity to join you in the walk if possible. Just let me know what I need to do or how I can help. There is a walk here in Enid, in April, but I will be coming home from Utah on the same day.

  3. I'm sorry if I gave the impression that the March of Dimes helped our family in anyway. I know they didn't. I just was stating that premature births and birth defects affects us all and this hasn't really occurred to me until recently when I started thinking about all the people I know who have gone through these trials.

    Thanks for the support!
